Hone your kitchen knives, turn up the heat and think roots, because it is time to prepare for Jr Iron Chef VT 2010! If you’re a Vermont student in grade 6-12, we’re challenging you to show Vermont that delicious, nutritious and fun school food comes from local Vermont farms. Sign your team up, and you’ll get a chance to show off your recipe and culinary prowess at the Champlain Valley Expo on Saturday March 27, 2010.

Sharon Winter Farmers Market

The Sharon Farm-to-School Program is holding a Winter Farmer's Market on Saturday, February 27 from 10am-1pm at the Sharon Elementary School. Shop for local winter vegetables, meat, eggs, cheese, jams and jellies, baked goodies, and herbs and spices! There will also be a selection of handmade crafts, a PTO-sponsored High Mowing organic seed sale, and the Sharon Farm-to-School Program will be showcasing their efforts to increase the availability of fresh and local foods in the school lunch program and in the curriculum. The Farmers’ Market will be held in conjunction with the Winter Carnival and Chili Cook-off. A chili lunch will be available from 11:30am-1pm, complete with a chance to judge the winners!
