The letters below (click on them for a bigger image) are from farmer Joseph Morel at the Eastman Farm in Barnard to the 3rd / 4th grade students at the Pomfret Elementary School as part of the “Farmer Correspondence” program organized by NOFA-VT. The students have been writing to the farmer during the year. They will make a farm field trip in May.

Back at school, the students along with teachers Jenny Hewit and Jon Barret have been up to their eyeballs in compost – with worm bins in the classroom, collecting food scraps for their outdoor compost bin and studying soil science.  They are planning a compost bin sale through the Greater Upper Valley Solid Waste District.
