Reading Elementary F2S

The 2009-2010 school year is our first year with an official Farm To School program. We have a local food theme for each month. Farm To School activities revolve around these food themes. We have brand new raised bed gardens at school that students cooperatively built in September. We have a newsletter for each month featuring our learning, activities, and recipes for our local food theme.

Hi. i am interested in visiting your gardening project and seeing the hay bale and plastic beds you have. I write a gardening column for the Valley News and other papers around New England, and this looks like a sure winner. Are you really eating greens already as mentioned in the Farm to School Newsletter? Or was that picture taken last fall?

Please email me or call me at 603-543-1307

    Thanks, Henry

Henry – thanks for the comment. I’ll make sure the folks at Reading respond – By the way, the students are Reading wanted me to make sure I corrected the newsletter, and note that it is STRAW BALES – otherwise they would have lots of weeds. The photo is from last fall, but I understand greens are coming up and will be ready to eat soon.
